Pro Trading Seminar: Redesigning the Global Financial System and Crypto Trading

Key Insights from GRVT and ZKsync’s Professional Trading Webinar

The recent “Professional Trading Webinar” hosted by GRVT and ZKsync brought together some of the industry’s brightest minds to address core challenges faced by both institutional and retail traders.

In a candid AMA session, leading trader Salsa (X @SalsaTekila), Alaukik Pant, Lead Product Engineer from GRVT, and Frogmonkee from ZKsync dove deep into critical topics: security, counterparty risk, self-custody, and other important aspects such as user interface, trading features etc.

Key highlights from the webinar:

  • Security and Counterparty Risk: The Foundations of Trust: Throughout the webinar, panelists emphasized that security and counterparty risk are top concerns for traders. These two factors remain crucial in building and maintaining trust within the trading ecosystem.
  • Self-Custody: A Growing Priority: One of the most significant discussions centered on self-custody. Panelists Salsa and Frogmonkee pointed out that an increasing number of traders are recognizing the value of holding their assets independently, rather than relying on third-party custodians.
  • Key Features and Priorities for GRVT: The panel also discussed what matters most to GRVT and highlighted key features that the platform is building to meet the needs of traders.

Security and Counterparty Risk: The Foundations of Trust

According to Salsa, with the rise of decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and hybrid platforms like GRVT, ensuring robust security measures is essential. This is not only critical for institutional traders but equally important for retail users. As the crypto landscape continues to evolve, exchanges must prioritize security and counterparty risk to build trust and create a secure environment for asset management and trading.

Self-Custody: The New Era of Ownership

GRVT, as a hybrid exchange, is designed with this ethos in mind, offering users the ability to retain full control of their assets while still benefiting from a centralized-like trading experience. This unique positioning ensures that users get the best of both worlds—self-custody and efficient market access.

Key Features and Priorities for GRVT

User Interface: A Glimpse of What’s to Come

Alaukik highlighted that one of the biggest challenges facing decentralized exchanges (DEXs) today is their lack of user-friendliness compared to centralized platforms. GRVT aims to bridge this gap by focusing on several key features:

  1. Sub-Account Trading – This feature allows traders to manage multiple accounts seamlessly, similar to what is typically found on centralized exchanges.
  2. Instant Finality – While most DEXs take up to 100 milliseconds to finalize trades, GRVT targets a trade finality time of single-digit millisecond. This is crucial for high-frequency traders and those seeking a smooth trading experience.
  3. Web Wallet – GRVT will introduce a web-based wallet that does not require users to be familiar with wallets like MetaMask. This simplifies the onboarding process for new traders, enabling even those with limited experience to start trading easily.
  4. Multiple On-Ramping Options – To enhance accessibility, GRVT will offer both decentralized and centralized exchange-style deposit methods. The team is collaborating with XY Finance to provide users with an easy-to-use address system, allowing seamless transfers from platforms like Binance and Coinbase.

Market Access: A Regulated Gateway

Another key point discussed was GRVT’s status as a regulated exchange. Pant emphasized that GRVT has always maintained a clear stance on regulation, ensuring compliance while delivering a cutting-edge trading experience. For both institutions and individual traders, regulated market access offers the best balance of innovation and security. This approach enables GRVT to attract liquidity and users from diverse backgrounds, solidifying its position as a leading trading venue.

Trades on GRVT are confidential, leveraging advanced technology called Validium, developed by ZKsync and Matter Labs. This ensures that traders can operate with privacy while benefiting from a secure platform. Additionally, GRVT is poised to expand its product offerings. While the initial focus is on perpetual contracts, the platform is also prepared to roll out options and futures, making it a versatile environment for various trading strategies.

Alongside liquidity, which is crucial to any trading ecosystem, market access remains a foundational pillar in GRVT’s vision. By offering a wide range of products and ensuring regulatory compliance, GRVT positions itself as a comprehensive solution for traders seeking both security and broad market opportunities.

Security: A Hybrid Approach for Maximum Protection

GRVT’s third key feature is security, which combines both on-chain and off-chain mechanisms to create a “hybrid security” model. This innovative approach integrates the best of Web2 and Web3 technologies to safeguard users’ assets.

On the Web2 side, users must log in with traditional password-based security to access their balances and interact with the platform. However, true ownership of assets goes beyond platform access. On the Web3 side, GRVT implements on-chain security, where every trade or transaction must be signed with the user’s wallet. This ensures that only the wallet owner controls their assets, reinforcing the principle of self-custody.

For users unfamiliar with wallets or who do not yet have one, GRVT is developing a self-custodial wallet solution that simplifies onboarding without compromising security. This dual-layer hybrid security framework sets GRVT apart from traditional and decentralized exchanges, offering both convenience and robust asset protection.

Trading Features: Innovative Solutions for Risk Management

The final key feature discussed in the webinar was GRVT’s suite of trading tools, particularly its advanced approach to liquidation mechanisms and risk management. GRVT introduces a unique “socialized loss” concept, where in the event of a major loss, only short-term (24-hour) profits are called back to mitigate the impact. This differs from traditional DEXs, where losses are typically handled through mechanisms like debt liquidation. GRVT’s approach, while more conservative, provides traders with a buffer in extreme market scenarios, further reducing counterparty risk.

Additionally, GRVT has developed a “reverse losses” feature specifically for futures trading, adding another layer of security for traders. The platform also offers minute-by-minute settlement for funding rates, the highest level of granularity available on the market. Despite operating on-chain, GRVT delivers real-time precision, comparable to centralized platforms, offering the speed and efficiency traders demand.

By combining these innovative trading features with its hybrid security model, GRVT is positioning itself as a leader in both risk management and user safety, making it an attractive option for both professional and retail traders.

Conclusion: Setting the Standard for the Future of Trading and Finance

As the webinar wrapped up, it became evident that GRVT, alongside partners like ZKsync, is committed to redefining the trading landscape. By addressing the pain points of existing DEXs—such as slow trade finality, clunky interfaces, and limited market access—GRVT is setting a new standard for what hybrid exchanges can achieve.

Whether you’re an institution seeking regulated access or a retail trader looking for the efficiency of a centralized platform with the security of self-custody, GRVT is building a platform designed for you. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as the platform prepares for its public release!
